Big Orange Splot, The

Daniel Manus Pinkwater (1977), Scholastic Inc.

After much deliberation, Mr. Plumbean decides that the big orange paint splot that appeared on his roof isn’t the worst thing ever. With a burst of creativity and lots and lots of paint Mr. Plumbean completely redecorates his house to look like all his dreams. His neighbors–who all have identical, plain-looking houses–are dumbfounded. Mr. Plumbean doesn’t give in to their judgment and eventually finds that following your dreams can be very contagious.
